From all of us at the Friends, we would like to wish everybody all the best for 2015! If 2014 has been a great year for you, then may 2015 be even better! And if 2014 hasn’t gone so well, may 2015 see an improvement. For our part, the last year has been a tough slog at times but always very rewarding and, despite a few upsets (e.g. damage to the children’s area), 2014 has been largely successful (e.g. wildlife garden well on its way to completion, great May Fayre and WW1 Event and the addition of several beautiful wood carvings).
Great fun was had at our annual Volunteers’ Thank-You Party, which was held in the Flying Horse Pub last night. Mulled wine was flowing, there were stacks of mince pies and, best of all, bonhomie in abundance. Below are a few pictures of the event.
We have taken to holding this party once a year to show our heartfelt appreciation for all those who generously donate their time for the Friends’ cause. Amongst those who attended, some helped out at our very successful events earlier on in the year, e.g. stewarding at the May Fayre and World War One events; some gave their time to maintaining the soft landscape of the Park, e.g. planting, pruning and tidying; while others assisted with admin and publicity.
Many of these volunteers have become friends with each other as a result of their involvement with the Friends. If you would like to join their number, please call our volunteering co-ordinator, Di, on 01843 279275, or alternatively you can email us on email@example.com. We guarantee there will be a job for you!
