Update of Summer Events

We’ve had a busy few months with our summer concerts, our appearance in Ramsgate carnival, the Summer Squall and the Wantsum Jazz Festival. These events have proved to be a great success not only with the public but for our relationships with other events groups in Ramsgate.

We have also been frantically trying to get a vast amount of daffodil bulbs planted before the end of November. This is still a work in progress but we have planted several thousand with help from 30 Brownies and 90 children from Ellington Infant School. We also had a group of young people from The Princes’ Trust in the park last Thursday, 27th October and again today, 31st October and this Wednesday, 2nd November.
Coming up on the 17th December is a carol service which we are organising in partnership with Community Church, Ramsgate, more details to follow in due course…

See you on 17th December!

Terry

PRESS RELEASE: MUSIC SUNDAYS ON THE BANDSTAND

MUSIC SUNDAYS IN ELLINGTON PARK

There will be free concerts on the bandstand in Ellington Park, Ramsgate, every Sunday afternoon throughout July.

These concerts have been organised by the Friends of Ellington Park in order to provide Sunday afternoon entertainment for the local community. The bandstand is in need of renovation, and the Friends are working towards this, but it is still a much loved asset of Ellington Park.

The concerts will begin on 3rd July with the Thanet Concert Band. Thanet Concert Band is made up entirely of volunteer amateur musicians who were highly praised and much appreciated when they became the first band to play on the bandstand for many years.

On 10th July, Craig Sheridan and Claire Bonham will share the stage. Craig is a singer and songwriter and Claire has been singing in public for the last three years, singing being her big passion.

On 17th July Screaming Cherry will perform. Screaming Cherry is a guitar based female-lead vocal rock band who play original music and covers from contemporary and popular rock artists.

On 24th and 31st July Juke Box Classics will feature a number of new musical acts.
All concerts will be from 2pm-4pm and the Friends of Ellington Park hope that the local community enjoy this eclectic mix of music on offer.

The Friends of Ellington Park will be providing light refreshments and suggest that people bring their own chairs/cushions or picnic rugs.
